Terms of use
Last updated: October 29, 2026
These terms govern your use of CanvasForge. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. Please also read the privacy policy.
1. The service
CanvasForge is a free online studio for creating generative artworks, exporting them for print or screen and sharing them in a public gallery. It is operated by Nicolas Hauviller (contact: the contact form on hauviller.com).
You can use the Studio without an account. An account is needed to save, publish, comment, like and receive messages.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 15 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in methods secure. If you suspect unauthorised access, tell us promptly via the contact form on hauviller.com.
- Your username must not impersonate another person or brand, or be offensive.
- Each account can store a limited number of artworks (currently 5). Deleting an artwork frees a slot.
3. Your artworks and content
You keep all the rights you have in the artworks you create and in your titles, descriptions and comments. CanvasForge claims no ownership of them.
When you make an artwork public, you grant the operator a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, reproduce and display it, including as thumbnails and link previews, solely to operate CanvasForge and for as long as it stays public. Making it private or deleting it ends this licence.
Public artworks can be forked: anyone can open their parameters in the Studio and create a remix, which credits and links to your original. Do not make an artwork public if you do not accept this.
You are free to print, exhibit and sell your own artworks.
You are responsible for what you publish and must have the rights to it. Images and music you add in the 3D view stay in your browser; only use media you are allowed to use, especially in files you export or share.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- publish content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, violent or sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- use the contact relay or comments for spam, advertising, scams or harassment;
- impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation;
- try to access other accounts or data, bypass security measures, quotas or rate limits, or probe the service for vulnerabilities without permission;
- overload the service, scrape it at scale or access it by automated means other than normal browsing;
- upload or distribute malware.
5. Reporting and moderation
To report content you believe is illegal or breaks these terms, use the contact form on hauviller.com and give the page address and the reason.
The operator may remove content, or suspend or close an account, that breaks these terms or the law, after notifying you where possible. You can close your account at any time by asking via the contact form on hauviller.com.
6. Software and brand
The CanvasForge software, algorithms, interface and name belong to the operator. These terms give you no rights over them beyond using the service. The artworks you generate are yours, as described above.
7. Availability and liability
CanvasForge is provided free of charge, as is and as available. The operator makes reasonable efforts to keep it running and your data safe but does not guarantee uninterrupted service, and may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of it. Keep your own copies of important artworks: the SVG export embeds everything needed to rebuild them.
The colours and dimensions of printed works depend on the printer, materials and screen calibration. The print calculator is a guide, not a guarantee.
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect damage or for loss of data or profit arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or your rights as a consumer.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the service evolves. The date at the top shows the current version, and significant changes will be announced on the site. If you keep using CanvasForge after a change, you accept the new terms; if you do not accept them, you can close your account.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Before any legal action, please contact us so we can try to settle the matter amicably. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the competent French courts, without prejudice to the mandatory rules that protect consumers in their country of residence.
